triangleShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

I watched Marvel's latest movie and it is easily one of the best Marvel movies to date. The choreography of the fights was spectacular and the casting was spot on. Simu Liu delivers an amazing performance and conveys a hero that is also fighting battles about his past and his relationships with his family.

Shang-Chi works to present a more inclusive Marvel universe on par with Black Panther and I hope to see more stories like it in the future.

triangle A Good Neighborhood by Therese Anne Fowler

This story takes place in a quiet, suburban neighborhood and follows two families - a widowed black woman, Valerie, and her teenage son, and their new neighbors, a well-known, "new money" white family with a teenage daughter. What starts as friendliness turns to legal issues, first, over a historic oak tree in Valerie's yard, and soon, the romance between their two teenagers.

As Amazon states, "A Good Neighborhood asks big questions about life in America today―what does it mean to be a good neighbor? How do we live alongside each other when we don't see eye to eye?―as it explores the effects of class, race, and heartrending love in a story that’s as provocative as it is powerful."
