In 2019, according to Oberlo, 85% of consumers conducted online research before making a purchase online. That’s a pre-COVID statistic! With less opportunity to spend time in physical locations, say scheduling an in-person tour, more people are turning to online research to find solutions during COVID.

The Traffic & Conversion Summit (T&C) describes itself as “The Premier Gathering of Digital Marketers on Planet Earth!” This conference is built entirely around digital marketing - addressing issues in the industry and offering insight into what’s working now.
Last summer , I was offered the opportunity to work as a social media intern at Markentum. Since I was looking to gain experience in marketing, being particularly interested in social media, this position seemed to be a perfect fit.
While our digital marketing team has decades of combined knowledge and experience, Markentum, as an agency, is still new and growing. This past year we doubled our marketing team, and I was brought on as the new CEO to help continue to improve services and expand Markentum’s reach in the senior living industry.
As the President of Markentum, people often ask me why our agency is focused on marketing to senior living. Why have we chosen to be an agency with expertise in both current marketing practices and senior living knowledge? This is a great question that I love to answer! This past week at the 2019 LeadingAge National Annual Meeting and Expo in San Diego, California, I was once again reminded of Markentum’s “why.”
Markentum focuses on digital marketing in the senior living industry, and we are continually working to grow our expertise in both areas. As we continue to be intentional about this effort, we have been presented with amazing opportunities to connect with wonderful people, and by extension, the communities where they are active and involved.
As the most visited city in Texas, San Antonio was a wonderful choice for hosting this year’s Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference. With a mission to help connect, discover, and advance the senior living and care industry, Argentum continues to provide a meaningful opportunity for ongoing education – and this year was no different!
Internships have a bad rep. Interns are thought of as the coffee-getters, the paper-staplers, and the corporate slaves to their superior. As a college senior and young professional, I was intimidated by these labels simply because I wanted to have a purpose wherever I decided to work.
